"Diabetic" or "Person With Diabetes"...which are you?
In our Politically Correct society some people with diabetes take offense at being called "a diabetic" they prefer being referred to as "a person who has diabetes".

I couldn't care less if someone calls me a diabetic
Please keep in mind that I am not saying that people who don't like being called diabetic are stupid or need to lighten up. I am simply expressing my thoughts. People have the right to not like being called something all they want and it is neither stupid or pathetic.
If I call someone diabetic, I am not labeling them. I'm not saying 'that person was stupid and ate too many sweets as a child and now can't produce insulin', I am saying 'that person has diabetes.' It's no different than calling someone a dyslexic. When I call someone a dyslexic, I'm not saying, 'haha, that idiot can't read.' I'm saying 'that person has a congenital brain disorder that makes it difficult for them to properly read and write.' Both are legitimate diseases (if you want to call dyslexia a disease), and simply calling someone dyslexic or diabetic isn't derogatory. It's similar to how some black people prefer to be called African Americans. It's a personal preference, and while I think political correctness is idiotic, I just don't understand why it should be accepted by the government and the media as standard. Though, I don't understand why 'Latinos' and 'African Americans' is accepted either.
Also keep in mind that I know diabetes is not caused by eating too many sweets as a child.
