Where's Recess?

As one mom states about recess in schools, "It's not a privilege, it's a right!" What are your thoughts?

Why on earth would we take away exercise from our kids? Too many go home to unsafe neighborhoods where they can't play outside; recess is their only chance to exercise. Plus, the teachers need a potty break, too! ;).

There should already BE a class that have physical activities in it.

I have yet to met anyone who can sit in one room and stay on task. We all need breaks. Children need time to be active and playful.

I think we are too stuck in a bad paradigm here.

I agree, there can be a class setting addressing all the benefits that recess gives.
