Bonds played in an era of baseball drug scandals. Therefore, judged by the reality of his time which is integral to MLB history, it is unfair to judge his record as an individual cheating incident. Factors such as bigger baseball fields, better pitchers and pitching techniques and a lot more negate whatever advantage he had which can be dismissed as the way of athletic "improvement" through the years in any sport. .

When we look back 40-50 years down the line (assuming it is not broken). Only his record will stands and the story will come in second. The circumstances will be forgotten. There are many more scrupulous feats that does not compare to what Bonds have done. Especially considering that what he did is the holy grail of baseball.
