Illegal Immigration
Is it right for illegal immigrants to receive ANY rights in this country? Are they not inconveniencing our way of life more than helping it?

Most immigrants are coming to the U.S. as a result of our meddling abroad.

Illegal Immigration should NOT be allowed on ANY level
Illegal Immigration is a PROBLEM and a CURSE, they should learn to fix their problems back at home!
-- Posted By Kliflosises on September 14, 2007And seriously why don't they? It will never get better in WHATEVER country they're coming form if they keep running from it. They are bringing their problems HERE and failing to learn our LANGUAGE on their way over. In America SPEAK ENGLISH!
Lets name a few problems, there are hospitals that are suffering serious financial burdens because these illegals are coming in without any health coverage and expecting to be helped. Several hospitals have closed due to this!
We should stop catering to Illegal Immigrants no matter WHERE they are from. This is NOT racial.
-- Posted By eastwind on September 14, 2007Regardless of personal hardship, it is not right to enter another country illegally. It creates a widening hole in the country from which you came. Truly, how can a country better itself if its people run away from its problems?
I am all for immigration. I think it's great that people can come here and start a life here.
-- Posted By Pacific-Writer on September 15, 2007But, do it legally. There is a reason why we have the laws that we do. There are there to protect us. .
Anyone who breaks and/or defies immigration LAWS shouldn't expect "rights" or aid!
-- Posted By themonk on September 21, 2007Illegal immigrants blatantly defy immigration laws which in essence means they feel like the laws of this country don't apply to them.
Immigration laws are in effect for many reasons not the least of which is national security and disease control. How can anyone who circumvents the laws be considered a positive influence?
For illegals to demand rights and public aid is akin to the kid who kills his parents then begs the court for mercy because he's an orphan! "Illegal" & "rights" don't belong in the same sentence.
My ancestors immigrated to this country like everyone else..but they respected the law and came in thru legal means. They didn't expect any handouts either. They learned the language & worked hard to become citizens.
Illegal Immigration should be looked at with allowance and sympathy
How did YOUR family and ancestry come here? At some point you immigrated here as well.
-- Posted By DiamondLips on September 14, 2007You family didn't have to do what these "illegal" immigrants have to do for a better live in this US of A. Technically we "invaded" the Indians. Don't you think the way WE moved in is little worse than these illegal immigrants?
No..because we didn't expect the Native Americans to give us health care and to support us financially. You are talking apples and oranges. Settling what was considered new territory and sneaking into an established country don't compare.
Granted the Native Americans DID help the earliest settlers...but they didn't INSIST that they be fed & supported financially. Illegals today are a drain on society.
I think illegal immigrants help society as much as they take from it. They contribute thousands of dollars in tax dollars that they have no hope of being refunded (by using fake social security cards, which many employers require, they pay in to.. the tax system but can't file for refunds. .
Also, they do the jobs that many Americans don't want to. Take a look at who is mowing your lawn or emptying your bedpan or flipping your burgers. Most of the time it's not spoiler rich Americans. .
Most immigrants are coming to the U.S. as a result of our meddling abroad.
-- Posted By antirelusionist on September 18, 2007Just pick up a newspaper and find out about American imperialism and intervention around the world.
if we are going to stick our noses into other peoples business, start wars and play big brother in the name of justice and humanity, then wouldn't it be hypocritical to turn our backs on people seeking help and a new life in a different way?
If you start picking and choosing when to enforce our unalienable rights, where is the line drawn?
-- Posted By Jess on September 26, 2007When those in authority begin picking and choosing when to enforce our rights, we all lose. At any given point, legal or native Americans can lose our rights because those in authority decide to selectively enforce the laws based on.. gender, or sexuality, or religion, or race, or national background, etc etc etc. Once you open pandora's box of selective enforcement, there's no going back.
