Can where you live make you fat?

Are you more likely to be obese in some neighborhoods than others, or is that just just finding something else to blame?

I highly doubt that a persons location determines their weight.

If you want loose weight than you will. If you want it bad enough. The American people are generally a lazy people, especially when it comes to personal care. We live in a society where weight loss programs thrive because people are so dang FAT.

Your weight is determined by genetics, by personal choices in food intake and by exercise, not by location. .

Neighborhoods influence people's weight

If you don't have sidewalks in your neighborhood, it's not safe to take a walk every night. . If you live in a gang-infested neighborhood, it's not safe to walk anytime of day or night!. People living on lower incomes tend to choose what's cheap and filling as opposed to what's healthy. You can buy 10 packs of Top Ramen for $1.00, but only 1 or 2 apples. I would love to see food banks and other agencies offer produce vouchers and discounted or free access to city-sponsored exercise cla#&!s, along with education on reading labels, etc.

Excuses however based are still excuses, it you want it bad enough you can do it. It might be harder in places to work out, but there is always a way.
The point is pay a little more for better food, eat a little less and work out. There you go!!! problem fixed, all this can be done in almost ALL locations, at least in all the locations from which people are participating in this debate.
