Many countries offer paid maternity leave to expecting moms and even some soon to be dads. Should the United States follow suit and also require companies to pay employees who are on maternity leave?

Yes, New Parents Should get Paid Leave!
Moms and dads who work are pulled away from their newborns to return to work. Many of them have to
-- Posted By Pacific-Writer on September 13, 2007return early because they can't afford to take the full three months allowed by law. I believe that if companies offered paid maternity they would have more loyal employees and we would have healthier children. .
It is known that the stronger a family is , the less likely you will see problems with the child such as drugs and alcohol. If parents aren't able to bond with their child in the first year of life, how can they create a strong family?. Parents that are forced to work due to financial responsibilities are made to choice between their child(ren) and their work. If companies offered paid maternity leave, they wouldn't have to make that choice. .
Another thing to consider is the business. If a business is pro-family, people will be want to support that. Consumers may decide to use a service or buy a product because of the companies strong pro-family values. .
No, It was their choice to have a family, the company shouldn't have to pay!
In this country Maternity leave is a given in a lot of situations, but not so in other countries. Family values are different in other cultures. her spouse should take up the mantle and provide when she can't help. She would do the same XD . .
Then what?
No, it should not be required, but people should know the company policy before choosing employment.
-- Posted By Perdie on September 17, 2007Requiring this type of leave could create a hardship on a company. Not all businesses are huge moneymakers. Everyone has the right to refuse to work someplace with a policy of no maternity leave. If enough people refuse to work at a place that . doesn't have paid maternity leave then the company will have to reconsider their own policies or lose good workers. .
