should have to do it but some can't so the education system should have at least the basics taught
I say the parents. Why, you ask? Because each family has a different value system. What works for
-- Posted By Pacific-Writer on September 13, 2007one family is going to upset the next and a public school has no way of taking everyones values and putting them into an educational program that will make everyone happy. .
Responsible Parents looks after their own children's welfare.
-- Posted By perspectives on September 13, 2007Responsible parents should NOT depend on other people to instill awareness about Sex and Drugs to their children. As the saying goes, families should try to fix their own homes. Children turn to their parents as the foremost moral authority. The school can never provide such image.
The cultural difference of each family means there are different opinions about sex and drugs. While generally we can say that they do not want their children doing these things, each parent must have its own strategy to instill it to their children. It is the nurturing responsibility of Mothers and Fathers as biological guardians to put forth these values before a much more complicated social institution.
It is the school's responsibility
In a perfect world, parents would take full responsibility for raising their children.
-- Posted By flippinsweet on September 13, 2007However, we know that many parents abdicate or completely ignore their parental responsibilities. Therefore, as a nation, it's really risky to have teens running around without any knowledge of "where babies come from.". Personally, I don't want the school giving my children their kind of sex ed, and I will exempt them from it and teach them myself. But the risk to our country in general is too high to eliminate sex ed from our schools.
