Even if a person wasn't born in Africa, or Asia, ext. doesn't mean they don't have the right to tell people their heritage. What does it matter to me if someone chooses to be an African American, instead of just and American. Its their choice, not mine. Besides, they obviously proud of their contry/ heritage.

Well, all of us are immigrants of one form or another. But I can honestly say that I don't know anything about Sweden or Germany, as I probably should. . Sure, my grandparents were born in those countries, so I am second generation in the US, but I don't feel any affliliation with those countries. My parents were born and raised here and they raised me in the American way. So, why are we still clinging to someone that has 1/8 of a particular race in them, and them wanting them to claim that heritage? It's just weird.

Bingo--I don't run around insisting upon being called a German-American or an Irish-American.

Were you born there? Grow up there? Lived there? Visited there? Most of the people claiming these other countries/continents would answer 'no' to all of these questions. Let me give you a hint. If you were to meet someone from that country/continent, I am pretty sure they would tell you to 'shut up, you are American.' At least that was my experience with students studying abroad while I was in college. And after they sat me down and asked all of those questions I asked above, I realized how ridiculous it was to claim someplace that really has no attachment to me.
