Equal prize money
This should be seen in the light that a female professional tennis player and a male professional tennis player are both doing the same job—they’re both tennis players. . we emphasize that both individuals have done what was asked or required of them to do before they have been deemed as champions—they’ve beaten every legitimate player in their field. This alone brings equality into the picture.
Unequal prize money implies that there is a discrimination against female sports.
-- Posted By perspectives on September 10, 2007For females to have a smaller prize money, it only means that the efforts of the women are not enough to warrant the proper respect that is due to the sportswomen out there. . Because women receive unequal money prizes even when they play the same number of sets in Wimbledon finals, all else being equal, it is how the event sees that the women’s matches are much less-talked about and much less interesting.
Not equal prize money
Prize money should be equal on money generated (through advertisements, ticket sales etc.)
-- Posted By phoghawk on September 10, 2007Women's sports organizations don't generate as much money as mens' (usually), and therefore don't have as much to give away. Until women sports can generate enough public interest to be super-profitable, this discussion is irrelevant.
