Will teaching only abstinence in sex education cla@!&s reduce teen sexuality?
Many school curriculums are cutting out all sex education topics except for abstinence, in an attempt to reduce teen pregnancies and STDs. Is this effective?

Teaching abstinence doesn't solve anything, as sex isn't the problem.

Abstinence in and of itself will not stop teenagers from exploring sexuality and relationships. There has to be a grounding in solid information and morals to be able to make wise choices. Without truth, you drift with the waves...

-- Posted By Jake_the_Mad on September 12, 2007Ignorance of sexuality, sex's consequences and the maturity required for healthy sexual unions is the problem. Abstinence programs vilify sex, not ignorance, and it is ignorance that is (as in all human-condition foibles) the problem.
