There will always be a certain struggle between opposing forces that can only end in further conflict. That is how history is designed. The drive for a plural society and tolerance is in the best case a fallacy.

The events at 9/11 shows that the status quo can be replaced by borderless conflicts. The events at 9/11 is the reality of international affairs that can exist outside the formal structure. The fact that it can be jostled by some fundamentalist tells us that there are things outside the control of the current world system.
