It makes sense to protect against those types. Maybe they could pass some sort of test first to be allowed or some.

Where do we allow this reasoning to end? Statistics would seem to support the idea that certain races of people are inherently more violent. Do we need legislation "to protect against those types"? Some argument can be made that poor breeding practices in certain breeds of dogs has led to a more violent trend in those breeds. I suppose we could extend that argument to people, as well. It really boils down to a nature versus nurture argument. Is it really the breed of dog that is inherently more violent , or is it the breed of owner that is incapable of spending the time and energy required to train the animal? I think any legislation in this area should instead prevent certain people from owning dogs.
