I would not have done it, but let's not make too much of this

-- Posted By lmikewhite on July 5, 2008

I would not have made fun of other reporters, were I a reporter, as was done. On the other hand, it was only a joke. Let's not make too much of this. The way those in the media make fun of others, especially conservatives, they should expect a little humor sent their way in return.

Top Comments

No, it wasn't a joke -- it was an intentional effort to ridicule someone who had simply reported on market trends and noted bad news for Fox. And regardless, in general news outlets don't get to make "jokes", and they certainly don't get to make them and then not tell anyone they did it. News organizations are supposed to be reporting FACTS. Why should I believe anything else Fox says now, when I already know they distort the truth to fit their own sense of humour?
I agree. 'Do unto others...' works in this case. Fox News has had enough irresponsible comments made about their reporters and views. It is about time others felt what it is like.
I agree with.

Agrees Harmless Fun

If you do not laugh in todays world what do you have to laugh about. There is nothing wrong with this : )

Some things are funny, some things are not. What you may find funny another may find offensive.

Presenting lies based on fabricated documents to a national audience is a blatant attempt to undermine the power of the most powerful office on Earth. It is meant to drum up additional support against the leader of our country. This is exponentially more serious than creating obvious parody photos of two spare journalists.

So yes, there is a difference and yes, a president should be afforded some additional respect. It's a foreign concept to most liberals... respect for authority. Clinton so tarnished the presidency that the current crop of liberals considers it standard fare. AND, before you go off on an emotional rant about me bashing Bill Clinton, please know that I voted for him in both presidential elections.

I like it when people go agains the grain and stir up problems.

To me it's not that big of a deal. It's the same as those exaggerated political cartoons.

It's similar to political cartoons, except it's not a political cartoon. That is news, and they should report truth. It's a whole other matter if they were to report this as a parody.
They obviously intended no parody I would say

As long as they are not attacking me

In my opinion, the photos didn't make them look like complete idiots either, just a little bit of harmless fun, I could think of a lot worse ways to edit the photos and make them look a lot worse.

We only watch Fox news in our household. I don't see anything wrong with what they did. They were just having a good time. Trying to make light. We have so much bad stuff going on in this world and from time to time it's nice to just sit back and have a good laugh.

Same here. Love them!

With everything we have going on right now why get so worked up over this? All this does is distract our attention from real issues like the war, the economy, the illegal immigration problem, and the fuel prices. There are so many more things we should be talking about right now it isn't even funny. So what it's bad humor. I would laugh if they had done that to me. Then again I don't wear my emotions on my sleeve. People need to grow up and put on their big boy/girl underwear and quit whining because one little thing happened they didn't like. I wouldn't be surprised if both sides weren't in on this as one big publicity stunt. The media as a whole isn't a very honest group of people.

What is real news

-- Posted By cangel818 on July 6, 2008

Everybody today seems to think that news reporters know everything and are always right. They are put up on pedestals and what they say is considered to be true.

It is about time some of them got their "facts' pushed back in their own faces. I think our problem today is that we tend to think reporters have researched properly before telling a story. But all too often it is just a story. It is up to intelligent people to listen to stories but to check out facts for themselves.

Fox News is blatantly not doing their job. It is like your doctor giving you legal advise. That is not what he is supposed to do. Any while you seem intelligent, most of America is not, meaning they will believe what O'Reilly tells them. Even if it is that Michelle Obama does the terrorist fist jab.

Everyone has their own twist

-- Posted By wikiwhat on July 6, 2008

The argument can be made either way about what news channel is spinning stories their own way. Every single journalist/reporter out there has their own take on the news. This is not a fair discussion to simply gang up on Fox. Anyway, if you think about it, this is the way the world works. The more liberal news channels will not like the conservative channels. This will not change as there is a marketplace for both of these channels to flourish! The fact that Fox makes fun of more liberal broadcasters (and vice versa with liberal media) is just another way of public relations that relates only to the party that they want appeal to, the conservative party. You can say they make things up, and you can say the same thing about other news channels, ITS NOT JUST FOX! This is, once again, inherent in the media... Everyone has their own spin! No one is forcing you to watch Fox.

NEWS ugggggggghhhhhhhhh

-- Posted By SandynPaul on July 6, 2008

I cannot believe this but then again... it's news? News itself has the twist placed on it to condition Us as viewers to be interested. They report what They believe We want to hear about. I can imagine that it's a tactic. I would believe it for They (news reporters) will print/report/show exactly what They believe will win them viewership/readership it's a shame but without high ratings They can't sell advertising at as high a rate... The circle of NEWS ugggggggghhhhhhhhh This news... really sucks.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain

I suppose it wasn't very nice, but I agree with arkjarhead. I think the only group of people that we Americans hold in worse contempt than our congressmen are the media. I used to think the media was supposed to report facts in an unbiased way, but now everyone seems to think they are part of the story, and its their job to make sure we dumb hicks get the slant right.

Childish.

-- Posted By emilystrange123 on July 5, 2008

This is childish and rude, but I don't think it should be punished. Members of the media are constantly mocking one another an putting each other down. This seems like a very immature way to get a point across, but I don't think anyone should be in an uproar about it. To me it just makes me less inclined to listen to Fox News. Don't they have actual news to report?

Is This Really News?

-- Posted By Crysmom on July 11, 2008

Seriously, this was probably some intern trying to be funny. With all of the things people should be concerned with right now, is this really that important? Fox News is the only channel left for people who don't want to watch the "reporters" drool over Obama. Maybe people would be more comfortable if Fox altered the pictures to show halos over their heads, or the light of the Holy Ghost shining down upon them as they appear to be about to ascend into the heavens, like some of the Obama photos floating around out there.

some intern? nah, there is definitely people who over see that after the fact could have done something and AREN'T

All in good FUN!

-- Posted By lndiamond on July 12, 2008

I think it is all in good fun. After all most people watch television to be amused or entertained. If the reporters don't seem to care, why should we? I am sure it was entertaining for the staff as well. It's not like they really look like that anyways.

It's stupid...

-- Posted By mel on August 10, 2008

as is the Fox News channel in general, but I just can't get it up about this one.

Completely irresponsible, and should be punished.

Libel?

-- Posted By thisdude415 on July 5, 2008

I'm pretty sure this falls solidly under libel. If nothing else, they're altering truth... hardly what I'd want my news-gathering organization of choice doing.

I agree they are suppose to be upholding a solid trustworthy front.

you said it best girl who are they really hurting? No one

Top Comments

They're hurting themselves because it doesn't look good.
This is very deceptive and it hurts Fox's reputation. When you play with truth or discredit othersin any way it looks bad.
The way the media constantly ridicules conservatives, it's no wonder people call two reporters "attack dogs."

Trust or Not to Trust

-- Posted By Shaebutter on July 11, 2008

How can we trust the information we get from reputable sources of information if it is tampered with? It just goes to show all media will do anything for ratings. this is very disappointing.

I am disappointed too,not much forethought and very bad taste.
