PC is better. - It all boils down to options.

I'll keep this simple, don't have too much time.

The PC has far more options than the Mac has, even with the new Intel Macs.

Microsoft Windows have hundreds of thousands, if not millions more developers to develop software for them, any software that runs on a Mac can be emulated on a Windows OS.

Macs may be inherently more stable than the Windows, but this is because it's based off of Unix and because Mac's hardware is severely limited.

Windows, on the other hand, is superior to Mac OS x (lowercase x to indicate any, not 10) because it deals with so much more than the Mac OS x. It deals with the largest hardware cluster of any OS. It deals with the most possible software of any OS. It deals with being the majority used, which in turn makes it the most targeted. Trust me, if Mac OS has anywhere near the amount of users that Windows has it would be dealing with the same issues as far as virus and spyware.

But here's where PCs really win, the choices. EVERY single piece of hardware in any consumer PC is replaceable and the mass majority are upgradable. This isn't the case for a Mac.

Mac users can upgrade RAM, Video Cards, and that really about covers it. Even things as far as optical drives are either non-user replaceable or ridiculously cumbersome in most cases.

In a PC, the hardware options are endless. Also, the PC is not as limited
to OS choices are Macs are, even Intel Macs.

PC is better. - PC is better . . . if only for me

I readily admit that there are some aspects of Mac performance--hardware smoothness, for one--which lend themselves better to certain, usually media-related, applications. Some Mac software is superior in a similar regard. These, among other reasons, mean that Macs are preferable to PCs for some people.

Just not me.

I grew up with PCs; I made the transition from Commodores sometime around the age of 9 or 10. I went through countless versions of DOS before Windows was unveiled, so a large part of my preference for PCs is based on familiarity. That being said, I'm fairly comfortable at the helm of a Mac. It just doesn't feel like home.

And, trendy ad campaigns aside, Apple is still far behind in software compatibility and interoperability, and the solutions that exist tend to be cumbersome.

For those reasons, I'm willing to vouch for the general superiority of PCs--but only on a personal level. There are many things about Macs which rule, too.

PC is better. - Mac vs. PC

First off...

WTF is the point of running WINDOWS on a MAC?

Secondly,

I have used both MAC and PC. I prefer PC. Although VISTA did more for MAC than any other innovation in the history of computing (driving customers to MAC stores), using XP is still better. Eventually, YES I WILL join in the VISTA crowd. But, like the time XP came out, I waited a good year and a half for all the compatibility and bug issues to be fixed.

THIRD,

Macs are great at editing movies and doing music composition on, but they CO$T $0 MUCH!!!

With the right investment, a PC could easily put a MAC to shame. Yes, money is an issue, but if ya think about it, there are software packages on both MAC and PC that are about half the price on the PC as they are on the MAC.

MAC has great opportunities and a lot of pre-loaded stuff, but the "good" packages cost more than the MAC itself did in the first place.

PC is more customizable, with far more options and choices to decide between based on price, value, and quality.

I think PC wins hands-down.

Expensive for hardware and software, the OS is weak and is only made remotely useful thru unix and opensource programming and architecture. Mac has excellent marketing and strong design competencies, but it will never run Windows/Linux off the landscape because it is impractical except for coffeshop/facebook kinds of users.

i support a 300 node network with windows vista/xp/2003 server unix and linux and the one thing people don't ever ask for is mac...there arent applications for it such as Enterprise Resource Programs for Manufacturing/ Quality Control/Engineering.

yeah. my first access to computers were macs and i still remember them fondly, yet now there is no clear reason for me to spend the Apple price point for limited hardware expandability, a different set of infuriating os flaws, and something i have little controll over. with pc's in their various permutations i have been able to scale and tweak them to fit multiple purposes with an extreemly narrow budget. but i must concede, if i needed to rended a feture length cg film or do any intensive editing i would drop a "few" grand to tie 5 o 6 gmacs together.

Macintosh hardware is expensive, and you are locked in to using their hardware. With a PC, I can pick and choose the pieces I want and build me own. Or I can choose from a multiple OEMs to try and get the best deal.

There is more software that runs on the PC, as opposed to the Mac. As already stated, if you want to play games then it's no contest -- It's gotta be a PC!

Also, if the Mac is so much better, why does Apple have to advertise that you can run Windows on their Apple products?

Mac is better. - Pioneer or Institutionalist

PC vs. MAC is like unto a debate between the pioneer spirit vs. standardization and uniformity. Any tech will tell you that since day one PC has be the forerunner and has a large number of software options and hardware swap ability. MAC has always tried to create an 'appliance' like a blender. So idiots that want to use a computer to look at porn, can't screw it up. Excuse me, I recall the 90's when all the graphics artist bragged about how they couldn't screw it up and had a couple of applications they could purchase for it.
Yes, I know the MFC (Microsoft foundation classes suck) but they allowed all to write for the OS (for a price usually, I know, I know!)
The best option is a PC running a Linux based OS, with windows emulation. This allows the user to run a PC, with all the goodies in the world at their disposal, yet retaining the stability of Linux. The only draw back is you must have an emulator to load, say, Office on your Linux box, and for the goodies, you must have a Linux driver written, which is usually (now) not a problem.
OOps, there is a second draw back, you must have a brain and be a PC based, or Linux based operator to set this all up.
So if you don't fit into this category, buy a MAC download your porn, or make pretty SWISH screen for FOX or CNN, and shut up.

Mac is better. - I only own PCs, but..

If the question is which is better, I would interpret that to mean which is a higher quality offering, and there's no doubt it's the Mac.

HOWEVER, that being said, I own 3 PCs and 0 Macs for several reasons:

1) I already know XP like the back of my hand, and can handle any problems that arise.

2) I'm comfortable 'under the hood' and can easily swap components like video cards, etc. to upgrade.

3) I'm not rich; every dollar counts. and I can piece together a PC MUCH cheaper than I could get an equivalent Mac.

4) I like to play the latest video games for PCs and would be SOL on a Mac.

5) I can't count how many times I've downloaded software or tried to use some web service and thought "thank God I'm on a PC" after reading something to the effect of 'here's the Windows version, Mac version coming later'.

So in conclusion, yes- I believe the Mac is a superior piece of hardware, and I'd like to own one someday. As long as I can run Windows on it too :)

Mac is better. - Keep yer damn PC!!!

Apple advertises the running of windows because of all the lame business software you PC people keeping ranting on about. I'm glad you guys don't like Mac's specifically because I don't want to deal with the barrage of PC users creating viruses and corrupting the sanctity of our blessed Mac's.

And for games... Obviously the rise in Mac sales has placed a demand on the gaming industry to produce more gaming options for Mac's. And why not? Aside from the Mac Pros which have available video card upgrades, majority of notebooks and iMac's come standard with an Intel GMA X3100 graphics processor or above. Plenty of power for a common game like Halo or Warcraft.

As far as price, yes, it is not reasonable for a multi-national corporation to run Mac's for their operations because of the price issues. But if you are a student, small business owner, or a moderate computer user, price is not an issue. Just Google comparisons to see. You will notice the price differences between most major PC brands and Apple are really not that different.

To prove my point... A friend of mine owned a PC. After 2 years and numerous restores, faulty drives and hours of waiting for virus updates and slowdowns, she has turned to the "Mac Side". I on the other hand have been a Mac user for 10 years now. My current Mac is a 17 inch Powerbook G4 with a 1.5G processor and 2G of memory at which I purchased 5 years ago... still running strong. Still starts up in 20 seconds. Still processes images, new programs, and even... wait for it... OSX Leopard 10.5.

I'd like to see a raising of hands of any PC users that have a 5 year old PC notebook that can handle the illustrious OSX copy cat Windows Vista. Really..? No one? Don't be shy.

Mac is better. - PC is junk

The PC is junk. It being took over by Microsoft. It seems like everywhere you look, Microsoft is there. I like Macs better. Better software comes with macs. The only bad thing about macs are they cost a little too much but worth the price.

Mac is better. - It depends what you need your computer to do.

I hear that if your into doing digital art or any graphic images that a Mac is the way to go. PC's probably had the ability to run more things on them.
