Should parents be held responsible for their underage children's actions?
In light of the recent California fires you have to wonder how much blame to put of the child and how much to put of the parents. Deaths occurred because a child decided to play with fire. Where were the parents? Should the parents be held respons

The parents should be raising their children in a way that is safe for society.
Parental responsibility should be very present in a child's life.
-- Posted By eastwind on November 21, 2007Parents should be responsible if they don't play a strong enough role in their children's lives. That being said, once the child has been taught properly the child then is responsible for it's own actions.
I think that both sides of this argument are right. Parents AND the children should be responsible.
-- Posted By Lanfe4r on November 28, 2007Its really a hard thing in some situations to place the blame on either party. I think that each incident should be looked at individually. .
Parents are responsible for raising and teaching their children to be respectful and apprrpriate in public but kids are responsible for following their oreders and doing what is told. But there is a certain age when kids get the full responsibility for their actions in the world but younger kids should share the responsibility with their parents.
The children should be responsible for their own actions.
While I strongly believe in good parenting I also believe my children should learn "responsibility".
