Test

Do the SAT and ACT tests accurately determine the intelligence and capability of their testers?

Many would argue that the SAT and ACT are just stupid wastes of time. The tests have been accused of linear content and that they very closed mindedly categorize the test takers. The SAT and ACT shouldn’t be used as a sift form which Universities

I agree we need to move away from these tests and school should be more vocation training in the beginning then just memorizing trivia. Stick to the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic (I think the term "The Three R's" is absolutely retarded by the way). If you want to learn history or sociology or anything else, then you can do it on your own time. Master the basics and then choose your specific vocation and go from there.

I graduated with a 4.0 GPA and was an amazing student. I studied for my SAT's, and ended up getting really nervous and getting a semi-ok score. How can 1 test, done in 1 day, determine an entire College Career? Get Rid of Them! They fucked me over.

Tests your testing ability

The SAT and ACT are great tests if you're specifically looking to see how well someone takes a test. There are many other modes of determining someone's intelligence that give a much more accurate look at their abilities. There is a difference between testing "retention of information" and intelligence. I did well on the ACT (32-36 in each range), but I also know that I've learned and used plenty that was NOT on that test.

Neither of those tests prepared me to be a mother and a working mom as well. .

I wonder if any other test could have prepared you for motherhood. Come on, get a life. SAT and ACT are meant to test your scholastic aptitude to determine which college you should go to, if at all. No test can be a panacea for the trials and tribulations of real life.

I think that the tests are way too close-minded and that they are too widely used.

These tests only show preparedness for certain types of professions in the works force. They don't adequately test individuals for their specific interests. The tests them selves just prove how well someone can take a test, thats all. .

I agree, how would this test help determine how good of an artist someone is?

SATs and ACTs are legitimate tests.
