Is rap music a lesser form of Music?
Rap music seems to be very repetitious in topic, rhythm, and feel. With the flow it’s all about rhyming and nothing else. It’s topic it’s almost ALWAYS about violence, sex, or sexually orientated things. Even the movement of the performers i

Rap isn't music, it's noise.

Honestly Rap sucks for its lack of creativity and for the lack of talent needed to create it.
Rap Music is a lot of sad sad people thinking they are creating Music.
-- Posted By PayneGuinn on November 14, 2007I can't recall a single rap song that I could clearly justify as a worthy song. Rap music tends to annoy me more than anything else. Same topics, same rhyming, same macho syndrome, guys dancing around making jerky movements. Are they retarded?
Weather or not Rap music has any meaning or value doesn't matter if you can't understand the words.
-- Posted By Sundrop on November 15, 2007I find rap music hard to understand because of the slang used in most of it. Its just really hard to understand the words and I find it unpleasant.
Sorry, its simply retar-ded.
Rap is a worthy form of music.
I'm not a fan of it myself, but it does have a meaning. I think it's all about where you're from. It's a form of expression so yes I do thing it's worthy of being music. If it has a meaning and an important message then of course. The only thing is that I don't think the ones about money this and money that and girls this and girls that are music. Only the true, meaningful ones.
Some mainstream rap is doo doo but there is different sub genres of rap that people can discover they like. I prefer gangsta rap my self... Triple SIX
rap is a form of music regardless of what your stereotypical ignorant views about it are. All of hip hop music is creative, you can find any topic in the world in hip hop such as love, peace, unity, havin fun, politics, hate, ghetto life, violence, real life situations, and much much much more. rap is based around the skills of creative interesting wordplay to begin with. i agree that many of popular music nowadays is lacking in this and only talks about cliche commercialized stuff like money, women, and material objects but MOST rap does not. underground rap is 100x bigger than mainstream rap is and is comprised of rappers who rap about real life shit that matters, and many other acceptable content, and has experienced an aray of life changing events to share with others. they rarely rap about pimping hoes/having millions/selling immense ammounts of drugs/murdering random people for no apparent reason or motive. Most underground rappers are people who are true to himself while rapping and uses his head and heart to write not only a pen and meaningless words.
not to mention rap isnt just a synchronizer its very diverse when it comes to instrutments the REASON it has the synchronizer and the undertone beats is because thats what makes it RAP. like guitars make rock... rock. and bagpipes are in irish music. each music has something in it to make it unique from all other types of music. also i have seen guitars, pianos, violins, drums, and many more instruments in rap music which makes it ONE of the most creative and unique forms of music today. And i lol'd at the person who said he cant understand it. Of course their are ebonics employed in many of rap music alot of rappers are from a culture different from yours. in england im sure they use traditional england words in their music and language which you probably couldnt understand or find in the american dictionary. OH NO that means all of englands music is not worthy of being music lol or australia they all speak english but have words in their language that arent in the american dictionary. that ebonics shows how diverse our country is which frankly im proud of, btw i do have a large grasp of ebonics so i do understand it :D and not ALL rap has ebonics in it many rap songs do not, so your just looking through a tunnel, all of you who disagree are most likely ignorant to hip hop music but dont like it cuz it doesnt fit YOUR preference. well i got news for you not everyone in the world is like YOU. i know you probably wake up in the morning thinking your the epitome of all mankind and everyone should be exactly like you. but some people see your ways narrow minded VERY narrow minded in fact. i could probably contradict you on anything else you say about rap but you didnt bring up other forms of your negligence so i'll just wait for you to put up another stereotypical view on this subject.
I'm not a fan of rap at all...in fact, i somewhat detest it. it annoys me and when i see crappy music videos on t.v i want to hurl. But... it is a form and genre of music and we cannot deny it! it is not a lesser form of music to any other genre, wheter it country,metal,classical...rap is music too and can be of good quality and poor quality just like anyother genre. people often create a distastful image of rap because of the music videos but thats a different story!
There are Rap songs out there that have legitimate meanings to them.
-- Posted By eastwind on November 15, 2007I won't claim that I'm a fan, but i know that there is Rap content out there that has meaning further than sex. As to weather or not Rap takes talent, tell me, can you do it? And if you can't then it takes talent right?
