Do people with diabetes want inhalable insulin?

Exubera, the 1st widely marketed inhaled insulin product, was recently discontinued due to poor sales and a lack of interest by the medical community and the general public. Do people with diabetes want an inhaled insulin or is it a waste of time?

Inhalable insulin is great technology. I don't see why it was discontinued.

My grandmother, both my parents, and my sister all have diabetes. I had gestational diabetes. I think my family would welcome an inhalable insulin. My grandmother takes 8 shots a day...I hated taking shots when I was pregnant. How come we never heard of this?

I guess it just goes to show that pharmaceutical companies care more about profit than helping people.

It really is a strange thing that people prefer the needle to the inhaler. wonder why.
