Why would the government go through the trouble of faking such a moment? And it would be quite a trouble too. I think people have too much time on their hands.

I agree with you, but we were also trying to beat the Russians in the space race, so that might be an incentive to fake it all.

I don't understand why someone would spend millions of dollars on AV equipment, studio construction, and video editing just to show that they have the biggest balls without actually achieving anything when they could spend that money actually doing it.
