Marriage is the result of cultural pressure to put a legal binding document on a fluctuation emotion
I think that there is room for meaningful longterm relationships without the pressure of marriage. Why commit yourself to something on paper when it is purely based on emotion?. You could argue that it is important to have a structured marriage if you were raising a family, but what about same sex parents who aren't even legally allowed to marry?
Marriage is the foundation of the family on which society is based upon.
Marriage is necessary for a certain "kind" of emotion. Its called "true Love", a permanent love.
-- Posted By Sundrop on October 2, 2007Of course marriage isn't necessary to everything, but for those who care about a person even when the going gets bad no matter what, then I feel that is marriage material. Only people capable of dedication should get married, not one-nighters.
Marriage should be based on a permanent emotion that is mutual between two people.
-- Posted By Radkhat on October 26, 2007There should be a very firm understanding between the two to be married that they love each other in a way that won't fade or die. Emotion is NOT always a temporary thing. There are permanent emotions, like the love of a parent. Marriage is such.
