Do cops abuse the right to use the Tazer?
With the UCLA Student who was tazered at the John Kerry conference, and the Ohio police officer who repeatly tazered a Warren woman, is it time to reevaluate the training police receive, or are these just random cases?

Police receive enough training, these are simply random incidents.
Gimme a Tazer and I'll deal with those.. naughty children :-D
WHEN YOU DEAL WITH BAD BUY...YOU WILL NEED ONE. U DON'T KNOW WHEN U ARE NOT YET IN THE SITUATION...
Maybe there is a safer way to pacify, but i have met just as many helpful cops as jerk cops
-- Posted By ramrod on November 14, 2007Police are very necessary in this kind of society and unfortunately there are some bad apples but such is the case with just about everything. Politicians, soldiers, teachers etc. .
It depends on the individual officer, but I don't think that abuse of the taser is rampant.
-- Posted By Perdie on September 20, 2007Policemen for the most part are just doing their job and are not on a power trip. You have a few bad ones who are and they should be routed out and punished by an internal review board. .
The Police are abusing their power and something needs to be done.
I feel the police are absolutely abusing the power that is given to them. It's a load of crap. "Innocent until proven guilty". That should be the motto PERMANENTLY. If you are a cop you should be asking what is going on and then LISTENING to the answer instead of being prejudiced and big jerks.
I feel like cops are more crooked then the supposed "Criminals" they take down. Because at least the criminals admit they did something wrong (most of the time), but police think they have a right and that it is OKAY! That is absolutely ridiculous.
I feel this issue should be addressed IMMEDIATELY.
Cops are fucking stupid. Who has the right to tell anyone else that what they're doing is wrong as long as they don't hurt anyone else.
I agree that incidents are few, however there are dangers to the use of tasers.
-- Posted By Kliflosises on October 4, 2007After seeing the UF tasering incident and the woman being tasered as well i think that is enough. Also Tasers DO have a risk, it is possible to kill someone with them. Any small heart problem could react fatally with a tasering. Its not safe.
These are NOT random incidents. There are officers all over that are abusing the taser.
-- Posted By eastwind on November 23, 2007First there was the Andrew Mathews incident, now there is the incident in Utah that I consider even worse. I have a link to the 30 second video, a cop tasered a guy because he wouldn't sign a speeding ticket. The driver's BACK was toward the cop!!
This kind of C R A P cannot be allowed to continue. The cop is taking too long to be prosecuted!. he should already be fired and in jail now the idiot trigger happy freak. .
