The taking of a human life is very serious business. Is it justified in some cases?

The death penalty is murder and should never be carried out.

When someone takes a life in cold blood then they deserve to lose their life as well.

If you get yourself in that situation, you deserve it;

I don't see how bleeding hearts can say a criminal deserves to live. There would be a LOT less crime if people knew they weren't going to sit in jail for 25 years before being put to death. I say as soon as the verdict is handed down, judgement made, they should be taken to a soundproof room off the courtroom and shot in the head. No more of this millions of dollars spent on appeals,etc. Eye for an eye. Steal and you lose a hand. Rape and you're dead. Kill and you're dead. Deal drugs and you lose your feet. Sounds harsh but other countries do it and they have almost NO CRIME.
