Rugby takes a level of endurance that soccer does not.

Rugby is rough, tough, and takes both skill and brute strength.

It takes a real man to take the brutality of the sport and want to come back for another game.
Rugby is more than getting the ball, running & getting tackled. It's all about planning, drawing the opposition in, off loading, skillful passing/kicking. And who knew that tackling could be a skill as well?
. Football (soccer) is about running around after the ball. Rugby is running, going to the ground, tackling, being tackled while getting a shorter halftime. So, who cares that 3 million people in the world play rugby while the other guys have 30 million? Rugby players are better athletes with better fans, hands down!
Rugby is rough, tough, and takes both skill and brute strength.
-- Posted By turtlegirl78 on September 7, 2007And I love football (American soccer)! But if you notice, rugby has been and still remains a bit of a upper class sport. These guys playing are ridiculously bright and athletic. It takes the toughest elements of many other sports (soccer and football), removes the protective gear, and sends them on their way. It is full contact, less restraint, graceful, brutal, and captivating all at once.
Theres a quote I barely remember that says soccer is a sport played by gentlemen and watched by ruffians while rugby is a sport played by ruffians and watched by gentlemen. Rugby isnt polite. Its a sport that takes on the toughest men and humbles the rest
Rugby is a sport for ruffians PLAYED by Gentlemen.
Soccer is a game for gentlemen played by ruffians.
Prior to professionalism most rugger players were lawyers, accountants etc not working class people.
Rugby players have to dig deeper, on a regular basis, in order to contine to face their opponents.
In rugby, everyone knows they are going onto the field with the same mindset as the opposing team: to completely dominate each player they face. Truly, in rugby, it is man against man: no pads, no protection, and no way to go but through your opponent. .
Soccer isn't as violent as rugby, but violence doesn't make it a man's sport.
Good sport isn't determined by injury and bloodshed but by the physical skill and mental strategy.
-- Posted By Perdie on September 20, 2007Soccer is a good sport in that it relies on these and is something both sexes and all ages can play. It's a better all-round sport.
Soccer is much better. I can play with my designer hairstyle without it getting ruffled!
-- Posted By visionary1 on September 10, 2007Seriously soccer is all about having style and being able to show it off. I mean if I played rugby I'd get sent off for swearing at the ref!
Soccer is about entertainment not sport. That's why players get paid so much.
